Sweet Rustic Charm :: Morgan & John

Morgan and John's wedding at Holman Ranch was simply beautiful, and of course, an ideal place for me to shoot. I've said before they're a couple after my own heart! Put me on a ranch or farm with barns, grapevines, stone buildings, gnarly trees and animals of all kinds, and I'm one happy photographer! It was a joy to shoot this wedding where the natural surroundings only made the couple's happiness glow even more.

The decor was lovely-- rustic wood tables, blooming dahlia flower arrangements and a soft pink/blush color palette. We asked Morgan about her inspiration for the wedding and she said "we just wanted to be surrounded by our family and closest friends. We loved that it felt like a big family dinner, very relaxed and fun." And it was!

A quick comment about the ceremony...John and Morgan are photographers so they did something really unique. During the ceremony, they both picked up cameras and turned around and took photos of everyone. It was super cute and we've included some photographs of them doing this below. It reminds me of The Office episode where Pam and Jim start taking mental pictures of the high points of their wedding by holding imaginary cameras and saying "click!" Except of course, Morgan and John used real cameras.

Enjoy the images we've picked out for you below and be sure to watch Morgan and John's wedding video from What We Do Films. And you can see the couple's engagement shoot, which we appropriately titled "Down on the Farm."

Morgan and John {down on the farm!}

A couple after my own heart........

Morgan and John called me last year to discuss hiring me to photograph their wedding.  They too are photographers (no pressure) and have also photographed many weddings.

I asked them to describe their wedding day and they said:  "Imagine the entire family coming over to the house on a Sunday afternoon for dinner.  That's it - it's about family."  Having been together since high school, they have so much history with their families.  I am so excited for their wedding in Carmel in August.  It's a true honor Morgan and John....thank you!

Here's some fun we had at Old Borges Ranch in Walnut Creek.  If you haven't had the chance to check it out - they have an 'open gate' policy....you can let yourself in and out and pet the chickens!  (and sheep and goats)

Ashley + Charles @ Beltane Ranch in Sonoma

Ashley Larsen and Charles Baron were married at the beautiful Beltane Ranch in Sonoma.  Beltane Ranch is a working ranch and bread and breakfast, surrounded by grazing horses, cattle, olive orchards, vineyards and lovely organic gardens.

Born and raised in Nebraska, Ashley grew up with horses.  Her love for these gentle creatures shines through in these photos.

Leah and Rafael from Spiral Hand enhanced the naturally beautiful setting with their amazing talent.  Karin Kamb, the day of coordinator from Clever Girl Consulting and the staff from Girl and the Fig could not have been more friendly.  And the food was off the charts!

Ashley and Charles relocated to Boston immediately following the honeymoon.  May these photos keep their hearts warm this winter!  Congratulations Ashley and Charles and thank you for letting me be a part of your wedding!  Thank you Hayley Durack for assisting me with capturing these photos!

The Wood's "Cowboy Wedding" in Fresno

Can I be two places in one day? Not that I’m aware of, so I was lucky to hire another team to photograph this ‘Cowboy Wedding’ at a privae ranch in beautiful Fresno (yes, it was very beautiful!). There was not a whole 'lotta hay & horses - quite the opposite!  Check out the swanky decor by Robert Fountain.  Dinner was a RAW bar, Prime Rib and lobster for EVERYONE!  After all - it was the wedding of the owner of HARRIS RANCH!!!
